Rust, the popular multiplayer survival game, has launched a significant update called The Crafting Update. This patch aims to expand players' creative options with a range of new features. A key highlight is the addition of a culinary workbench, where survivors can grill chicken legs and pair their meals with Siberian vodka. Preparing dishes requires specific recipes, and well-cooked food provides stat boosts and modifiers to enhance gameplay.
Chickens and chicks can now be housed in coops, where they will live, lay eggs, and thrive with proper care. Each chick has four key attributes: Hunger, Thirst, Love, and Sunlight. Neglecting any of these needs will cause the birds to die. Meat from chickens spoils over time, becoming unusable unless stored in a working refrigerator. Players will also see timers on food items indicating their expiration dates.
For players with a sweet tooth, wild beehives can now be found on trees. Honeycombs must be carefully extracted and relocated to player-made hives crafted from wooden boxes. Bees are formidable foes, so players must wear protective suits, douse themselves with water, or use flamethrowers to avoid being stung. A new weapon, the Bee Grenade, resembles a jar of honey. When shattered, it releases three swarms of aggressive bees, forcing players to flee for safety.
The engineering workbench has been completely redesigned, now featuring a separate tech tree for plumbing and electricity. This allows players to build automated systems and even entire factories. Additionally, developers have launched premium servers, accessible only to players whose Rust inventory is valued at a minimum of $15. This move aims to filter out cheaters and disruptive players, ensuring a smoother experience for dedicated gamers.
