How to Obtain Tier II/Fine Gear in Avowed

by Emily Mar 31,2025

In *Avowed*, keeping your weapons and armor upgraded is crucial for tackling the game's increasing challenges. At the start, you'll mostly encounter Common, or Level I, weapons and enemies. As you progress, these will scale up to Level II, necessitating Fine gear to keep up with the heightened difficulty. Here's a comprehensive guide on how to acquire Tier II/Fine weapons and armor in *Avowed*.

How to Upgrade Weapons and Armor from Common (I) to Fine (II) in Avowed

In *Avowed*, some weapons and armor will naturally spawn or be available for purchase as Fine Quality, but others will require upgrading to reach this level. Gear effectiveness in *Avowed* is tracked in two ways: Quality and Level. Quality is indicated by a descriptor, color, and Roman numeral. Common, or Green, items are marked with I, while Fine, or Blue, items are marked with II. Additionally, there are three incremental levels between each Quality, ranging from +1 to +3.

To upgrade your gear from Common (I) to Fine (II), you'll need to visit a Party Camp, where you'll find a workbench dedicated to upgrading your equipment. You must progress through each level from +1 to +3, with each level requiring specific materials depending on the gear type. Once you've reached the +3 level, you can then upgrade to Fine (II), which requires Adra, a rare and valuable crystal. Adra can be obtained through completing Quests, purchasing from Merchants, or by breaking down Unique weapons and armor.

Where to Find and Purchase Fine (II) Weapons and Armor in Avowed

While upgrading is a viable option, it can be resource-intensive. Alternatively, you can find Fine (II) weapons and armor within the Living Lands, particularly in Dawnshore, though these are rare. Fine (II) gear can drop from Level II enemies, especially from Bounties. However, using Common gear against Level II enemies can be less effective, so ensure you have ample health potions on hand.

Fine weapons and armor are also available for purchase from Merchants in Paradis. Access to Paradis is granted to the Envoy shortly after defeating the Dreamscourge-infested bear boss in Dawnshore during the early stages of the Main Quest. In Paradis, a pair of sister Merchants near the Bounty Board offer Fine gear. Merlylin specializes in magical items like grimoires and wands, while her blacksmith sister sells more conventional weapons and armor, as shown in the image above.

And that's how you can obtain Fine weapons and armor in *Avowed* to enhance your gameplay experience.
