Leaked gameplay footage of the canceled Transformers: Reactivate has re-emerged online. Originally announced in 2022 by Splash Damage in collaboration with Hasbro, the co-op title promised players control of Generation 1 Autobots and Decepticons uniting against an alien threat.
Despite the 2022 announcement at The Game Awards, limited gameplay was shown publicly, leading to speculation before the official cancellation. Splash Damage cited a shift in focus to other projects, potentially resulting in layoffs.
Recently resurfaced footage, from a 2020 build, showcases Bumblebee navigating a destroyed city, seamlessly transforming and wielding various weapons. The style bears resemblance to Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, but features a unique alien enemy force, "the Legion."
Despite some unfinished textures, the leaked footage displays a polished look, including environmental destruction. An incomplete, silent cutscene shows Bumblebee emerging from a portal in New York City, contacting an ally named Devin regarding the Legion's attacks.
Numerous other leaks, dating back to 2020, pre-date the official announcement and cancellation. While the game remains unplayable, the leaks offer a glimpse into Splash Damage's vision for this ultimately canceled Transformers multiplayer experience.
