Independent developer Sander Frenken has revealed that his upcoming project, Battledom, has entered Alpha testing. This RTS-lite game serves as a spiritual follow-up to Frenken's 2020 title Herodom. Working as a part-time developer, Frenken dedicated approximately two years to creating Battledom, which he describes as aligning with his original vision for his tower defense success Herodom.
Sander explains that Battledom incorporates real-time strategy combat systems, enabling unrestricted troop movement across battlefields. Players can target adversaries anywhere on the map and operate siege engines manually to obliterate opposing forces. Various tactical formations further enhance the strategic depth of engagements.
The game features an army-building system where coins are used to recruit new soldiers. Recruits initially come unequipped with just basic armaments. Players can enhance their forces by outfitting them with specialized weapons and armor, with each piece of gear modifying combat attributes like attack range, hit chance, defensive capabilities, and offensive strength.

However, equipment isn't discovered during exploration - it must be manufactured in your home village. Players gather resources including timber, hides, and fuel to craft items at various specialist buildings like the blacksmith's forge or wizard's workshop.
Frenken gained recognition through Herodom, which maintains a 4.6-star rating on the App Store. This earlier title featured over 55 recruitable heroes and 150+ military units and siege engines, immersing players in historically-inspired conflicts. Progression unlocked customization options like new hairstyles, outfits, plus agricultural elements including livestock and crops.
iOS users can participate in the Battledom alpha by installing TestFlight. For ongoing updates about this RTS-lite title, follow Sander Frenken on X (formerly Twitter) or Reddit. His previous game catalog is also available for discovery on the App Store.
