Bloodmoon Island is a mysterious and intriguing region situated in the northern part of Reaper's Coast. Encased by the lethal Deathfog and separated from the mainland by a destroyed bridge, reaching the island poses a significant challenge. However, exploring Bloodmoon Island is crucial as it deepens the main storyline and unlocks additional side quests. The game, however, offers little guidance on navigating the Deathfog to reach the island, often leaving players searching Reaper's Coast for clues. Below, we detail all the methods to access Bloodmoon Island and advance the story in Divinity: Original Sin 2.
Spirit Vision Shows The Way
Bloodmoon Island was once connected to Reaper's Coast by a bridge, now destroyed and located northeast of Cloisterwood, near the territories of Jahan and Witch Alice. Upon reaching the bridge, you'll find the Driftwood Fields waypoint. Here, using Spirit Vision will unveil the broken segments of the bridge, some of which are trapped, adding a layer of difficulty to the crossing. Yet, with the right skills or items, traversing this spirit bridge becomes manageable:
- Gloves of Teleportation: Obtainable in the game's first act, these gloves enable teleportation without the need for learning the skill. Though it's a time-consuming process, you can teleport each party member across the bridge using these gloves.
- Translocation Skills: Skills like Phoenix Dive, Cloak and Dagger, and Tactical Retreat allow for teleportation across the broken bridge. The challenge lies in not all party members possessing these abilities, which leads to the next method.
- Teleporter Pyramids: With four such artifacts in the game, you need two to cross the bridge to Bloodmoon Island. Place one pyramid in a companion's inventory who can use translocation skills to cross the bridge. Once on the other side, the rest of the party can warp to them.
- Fast Travel: Alternatively, a party member with translocation skills can cross the bridge to unlock the Bloodmoon Island waypoint, allowing the rest to fast travel there without needing to cross the bridge.
Take The Ferry Across The Deathfog
Besides the methods mentioned, parties with Fane, who is immune to the Deathfog due to his undead nature, have another way to reach Bloodmoon Island. Near Cloisterwood's northwest lies a pier with an undead ferryman who offers to ferry your party through the Deathfog. However, this is a deceptive offer, as it leads to the death of everyone except Fane. If Fane takes the ferry alone, he can safely reach Bloodmoon Island, unlock the waypoint, and allow the rest of the party to fast travel to him.
Taking The Ferry Without Fane In The Party
If your party does not include Fane but you wish to use the ferry, you'll need at least two Teleporter Pyramids:
- Unchain your party and place a Teleporter Pyramid in the inventory of the companion taking the ferry.
- The companion will die upon reaching Bloodmoon Island but will have the pyramid.
- With the rest of the party still chained, use the second pyramid to warp to the dead companion.
- Revive the companion with a resurrection spell or scroll to continue.
For parties without Fane, using the bridge is the recommended and quickest method to reach Bloodmoon Island.
It's crucial to avoid attacking the Undead Ferryman, as he can cast a Deathfog spell, resulting in instant death for anyone within its range. If you decide to engage him, make sure to quick save first. Defeating him grants you a Soothing Cold skillbook, a regular belt, and 3,750XP.
