A purported remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, developed by Virtuos Studio using Unreal Engine 5, has been detailed by MP1st. The information, reportedly sourced from an anonymous developer's portfolio, suggests a significant departure from a simple remaster.
The project, according to the ex-Virtuos employee's portfolio, involves a complete reimagining of Oblivion. This encompasses overhauls to core mechanics, including stamina management, stealth, combat blocking (inspired by Soulslike games to address the original's perceived shortcomings), archery, damage feedback, and the user interface. The damage calculation system has been refined, promising more visually impactful hit reactions. The UI and archery systems are also slated for modernization. MP1st theorizes that the project, initially planned as a remaster (as hinted at in leaked Microsoft documents), expanded into a full remake.
While sources contacted by MP1st confirm the Oblivion remake won't appear at the upcoming Developer_Direct, rumors suggest a potential release within the year.
