The Battle of Polytopia has just rolled out an exciting update that promises to shake up the 4X strategy game scene with the introduction of Weekly Challenges. This new feature offers a fresh way to test your strategic prowess and compete on a level playing field. Let's dive into what this update brings to the table.
It Was Random Before
If you've played The Battle of Polytopia, you're familiar with the element of randomness that comes with different enemies, resources, and maps. This unpredictability is part of what makes the game so engaging. However, the new free update introduces a more structured form of competition.
Every week, players will face the same map, tribe, and gameplay conditions. The challenge? You have 20 turns to achieve the highest score possible. You can attempt this once per day, giving you a maximum of seven tries per week. This structured format adds a new layer of excitement and strategy to the game.
One of the coolest aspects of Weekly Challenges is that you can play as tribes you might not own yet. The game features a total of 16 tribes—four come with the base game, and the other twelve can be purchased for $1-4 each. But in The Battle of Polytopia Weekly Challenges, everyone competes using the same tribe, regardless of whether they own it or not.
Will Weekly Challenges Make The Battle of Polytopia More Exciting?
Absolutely! The introduction of Weekly Challenges is set to elevate the gaming experience. Alongside this, the new mode brings a League system into play. Everyone starts in the Entry League, and your performance each week determines whether you move up or down. The top third of players advance to the next league, the bottom third drop a league, and the middle group remains in their current league.
As you progress through the leagues, the difficulty level scales up. Starting with Easy AI in the Entry League, you'll face increasingly tougher opponents, reaching Crazy difficulty by the time you hit the Gold League. If you miss a week, you won't be demoted, but your ranking will adjust based on the performance of other players.
