inZOI's development team has officially announced the removal of Denuvo DRM from their game. Over the past day, reports surfaced indicating that the demo for inZOI’s Creative Studio mode contained the controversial anti-tamper software. Denuvo, known for its potential to degrade game performance, has long been a contentious issue among gamers.

This DRM technology aims to combat piracy by preventing unauthorized copying and distribution of PC games. However, it often restricts the ability to mod games, which has sparked widespread criticism.

In a recent Steam blog post dated March 26, inZOI Director Hyungjun ‘Kjun’ Kim addressed these concerns directly. He confirmed that the upcoming Early Access build, scheduled for release on Friday, will be free of any DRM. "We initially implemented Denuvo to safeguard the game from illegal distribution, believing it would ensure a fair environment for our paying players. However, after reviewing community feedback, we realized this was not what our players wanted," Kjun explained.

Kjun also apologized for the lack of transparency regarding Denuvo's inclusion in the Creative Studio mode. He acknowledged that while removing DRM might increase the risk of the game being cracked, it would significantly enhance inZOI's moddability and customization options. "We believe that allowing this freedom from the start will foster innovative and enduring enjoyment for our community," he added.

inZOI Being A Highly Moddable Game

inZOI places a strong emphasis on modding, making the initial inclusion of Denuvo particularly puzzling to players, as it hinders modding efforts.

Kjun reiterated the team's commitment to making inZOI a highly moddable game. "As I highlighted during our Online Showcase, our goal is to support extensive modding. We're set to launch the first stage of official mod support in May, enabling players to use tools like Maya and Blender to craft custom content. This is just the beginning; we plan to expand mod support to enhance your gaming experience in numerous ways," he stated.

He also mentioned that a dedicated post would soon provide more details on modding. Krafton, the company behind inZOI, continues to prioritize player feedback, making necessary adjustments to deliver a top-quality gaming experience.

inZOI is slated for an Early Access release on PC on March 28, 2025. The full launch will extend to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, though the exact date for the full release remains undisclosed.
