A former employee of Respawn Entertainment recently shared on LinkedIn that a project, which had been in development for several years, was abruptly halted this week. No official reason was provided for the sudden stop in production. Last year, industry insider Jeff Grubb revealed that this project was not a mainline entry in the Titanfall series, specifically not Titanfall 3. Respawn had assembled a special "experimental team" for this endeavor, handpicking experts known for their skills in developing multiplayer shooters.
This isn't the first time Respawn has had to cancel a project. Last year, they also shut down an arcade shooter codenamed Titanfall Legends. The Titanfall franchise, celebrated for its thrilling mix of action and mech piloting, allows players to engage in battles either as agile pilots or as formidable Titans. Since its debut in 2014, the series has carved out a niche for itself, attracting fans with its distinctive parkour mechanics and intense team-based combat.
Currently, Respawn is channeling its efforts into other high-profile projects. They are developing the third installment of the Star Wars Jedi series, alongside a new strategy game set in the Star Wars universe. This latter project is being crafted in partnership with Bit Reactor, indicating Respawn's ongoing commitment to expanding their portfolio within the Star Wars franchise.
