Concord: Post-Launch Roadmap and Gameplay Tips Unveiled
With Concord's launch on August 23rd fast approaching, Sony and Firewalk Studios have detailed the game's post-launch content plan. This article summarizes the updates and offers gameplay strategies.
No Battle Pass Required
Launching on August 23rd for PS5 and PC, Concord eschews the traditional battle pass model. Firewalk Studios prioritizes a rewarding base experience, with meaningful rewards earned through gameplay, character leveling, and objective completion. This focus ensures a robust experience from day one.
Season 1: The Tempest – Arriving in October
Season 1, "The Tempest," brings a new Freegunner character, a fresh map, additional Freegunner variants, and new cosmetics. Weekly cinematic vignettes will enrich the Northstar crew's storyline.
In-Game Store Debuts
An in-game store, launching alongside Season 1, will offer purely cosmetic items, ensuring no gameplay advantage. These are supplementary to the rewards earned through progression.
Season 2 and Beyond
Season 2 is scheduled for January 2025, with Firewalk committed to regular seasonal content updates throughout Concord's first year.
Mastering Concord Gameplay
Game director Ryan Ellis shared key gameplay insights. Concord's "Crew Builder" system allows for team customization with five unique Freegunners, with the option to include up to three copies of a Freegunner's variants. This allows strategic team composition based on playstyle and match challenges.
Unlike traditional hero shooter roles, Concord's Freegunners are designed for high damage output and effective combat. The six roles (Anchor, Breacher, Haunt, Ranger, Tactician, and Warden) offer diverse strategic options, from area control to flanking maneuvers. Combining Freegunners from different roles unlocks Crew Bonuses, enhancing mobility, weapon accuracy, and cooldown times.
