Assassin's Creed Remakes Officially Confirmed
A Regular Stream of Diverse AC Experiences
Guillemot's interview revealed plans for several Assassin's Creed remakes, though specific titles remain undisclosed. He emphasized the opportunity to revisit older games, updating them for modern audiences: "Players can look forward to several remakes, allowing us to revisit past games and modernize them; some older Assassin's Creed worlds are incredibly rich." This suggests a revitalization of classic entries.
Beyond remakes, Guillemot promised a diverse range of experiences in the years to come. He stated, "We aim for more regular Assassin's Creed releases, but each year will offer a unique experience."
Upcoming titles like Assassin's Creed Hexe (targeting a 2026 release) and Assassin's Creed Shadows (releasing November 15, 2024) exemplify this commitment to variety. Hexe is set in 16th-century Europe, while the mobile title, Assassin's Creed Jade, is slated for a 2025 launch. Assassin's Creed Shadows takes players to feudal Japan.
Ubisoft has a history of remastering its catalog, including Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection (2016) and Assassin’s Creed Rogue Remastered (2018). While rumors of an Assassin's Creed Black Flag remake circulated last year, official confirmation is pending.
Ubisoft Embraces Generative AI
Guillemot also discussed technological advancements in game development. He highlighted Assassin's Creed Shadows' dynamic weather system, impacting gameplay and visuals. He further reiterated his confidence in generative AI's potential to enhance game worlds.
Guillemot stated, "Technological progress offers limitless possibilities. Assassin's Creed Shadows, for example, features a weather system affecting gameplay; previously swimmable ponds might freeze."
He continued, "Visually, the series is taking a significant leap forward. I believe generative AI can greatly enhance NPC intelligence and interactivity, potentially extending to animals and the environment itself. We can significantly enhance open worlds to create even more dynamic experiences."
