Fans have long expressed mixed feelings about the weapon aesthetics in Monster Hunter: World, leaving many curious whether Monster Hunter Wilds might repeat similar design choices. While we've glimpsed several weapons from Wilds, there hasn't been enough material to definitively judge their creative direction – until now. Monster Hunter Wilds Director Yuya Tokuda has directly addressed these concerns.
While discussing the Hope series armor and weaponry, Tokuda revealed: "In Monster Hunter: World, weapon designs maintained a consistent base appearance with monster material variations. Wilds breaks this pattern – every weapon boasts completely unique visual identity."
This explicit comparison to World's approach settles the debate – weapon diversity won't be an issue in Wilds. Though some World weapons eventually developed distinct appearances through upgrades, many weapon families retained frustrating similarities. The comparison image below demonstrates this clearly, showing nearly identical final forms for different monster-inspired weapon paths when World first launched.

Now contrast those with the designs displayed in our Wilds preview gallery below. Each weapon exhibits unmistakable individuality in its craftsmanship.
