- PUBG Mobile launches its first asymmetrical gameplay mode, Unfail.
- Survivors must evade a relentless killer, or play as the Predator to hunt them down.
- This Dead by Daylight-inspired mode is available starting today.
Krafton is known for its willingness to experiment with new ideas. We recently saw this with their unexpected crossover collaboration featuring Skibidi Toilet. Beyond that attention-grabbing update, the game is also introducing its first asymmetric multiplayer experience—Unfail.
In the Unfail mode, one player becomes the Predator—a ruthless killer hunting survivors across a compact, tense map. As a survivor, your goal is to complete objectives, repair terminals, and evade the Predator long enough to make your escape.
If this sounds familiar, that's no coincidence. Unfail takes clear inspiration from Dead by Daylight, adapting its core mechanics to fit PUBG Mobile’s style. This includes tactical elements like flipping pallets to block the Predator's path, and using various tools to slow them down—though survivors can't kill the hunter.

Killer Moves
There's an ongoing conversation about where inspiration ends and imitation begins. That said, since Dead by Daylight launched, countless variations of its format have appeared.
This new mode highlights PUBG Mobile's gradual evolution into a more diverse platform—similar to Roblox, where the main battle royale experience is now supported by a wide variety of gameplay styles.
In light of Krafton's ambitious collaborations and rising competition like World of Wonder against Fortnite’s Unreal Editor, a Dead by Daylight-style mode isn't the strangest thing to happen in PUBG Mobile lately.
Even so, it's not the most unusual release of the week. For that, check out Will’s “Off the AppStore” column, where this week he reviewed the 2D dungeon crawler Roll. Die. Repeat.
