Diablo 3's beloved "Fall of Tristram" event is set to conclude on February 1, yet many fans are expressing a desire for it to remain in the game longer. In response to these sentiments, community manager Pezradar has clarified that extending the event is currently unfeasible due to technical constraints. "I asked about Tristram and the possibility of extending it, but unfortunately [the event] is hard-coded and it's impossible to make server-side fixes," Pezradar stated.
Additionally, Pezradar addressed the delay of Diablo 3's Season 34, acknowledging the disappointment it caused among players, especially those with weekend plans. "I'm sorry. It's not what I was hoping for. We were notified about 24 hours before we had to adjust the time. The team needs to create new code to ensure a smooth transition between seasons after problems with the automatic scheduler that ended [last 33rd] season early in early January," he explained. The additional time will be used to implement and test new code, ensuring a seamless transfer of player progress. Pezradar also noted that the team recognizes the need for better communication with players in the future.
In other gaming news, Wolcen Studio has announced Project Pantheon, a new free-to-play combat role-playing game that incorporates extraction shooter mechanics. The game's first closed alpha testing begins on January 25 for European players, with North American players joining on February 1. Game director Andrei Cirkulete described the game as a fusion of "the tension and risk reward of an extraction shooter with the battle dynamics of combat role-playing games," drawing inspiration from titles like Diablo and Escape from Tarkov. Players will assume the role of a messenger of Death, tasked with restoring order to a ravaged world. Wolcen Studio is eager for player feedback during the alpha testing phase.
