Josef Fares, the visionary behind Hazelight Studios, recently shed light on their upcoming title, Split Fiction, in an interview. Reiterating previous statements, Fares underscored Hazelight's unwavering commitment to a player-first approach, firmly rejecting live-service models and microtransactions. The studio's independence remains paramount, with no plans for an IPO or acquisition by a larger company. Fares stated definitively, "We're not going public. No microtransactions. We focus solely on delivering great gaming experiences."
In conversation with MinnMax, Fares revealed that Split Fiction's core narrative clocks in at a substantial 12-14 hours, mirroring the playtime of its acclaimed predecessor, It Takes Two. However, with optional missions and extra content included, players can anticipate a total playtime stretching to 16-17 hours.
While Hazelight is renowned for its exceptional co-op experiences, Fares hinted at the potential for future single-player ventures. He also revealed that Split Fiction's budget is double that of It Takes Two, yet the studio has opted against post-launch DLC, ensuring all features are available from launch day. Split Fiction will launch worldwide on March 6th for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
