Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2's Patch 4.0 Nerfs Reverted Following Player Outcry; Public Test Servers Planned for 2025
Developer Saber Interactive is addressing player concerns regarding the recent nerfs implemented in Space Marine 2's Patch 4.0. A hotfix, Patch 4.1, launching October 24th, will revert the most significant balance changes. This decision follows significant negative feedback from the community, including negative Steam reviews.
The studio explained that Patch 4.0 aimed to increase challenge by adjusting enemy spawns, but this negatively impacted lower difficulty levels. As a result, Patch 4.1 will undo these adjustments, significantly reducing enemy spawn rates on easier difficulties and slightly reducing them on the hardest ("Ruthless") difficulty. Player armor on Ruthless difficulty will receive a 10% boost, and AI teammates will deal 30% more damage to bosses.
Furthermore, Patch 4.1 includes substantial buffs to Bolt weapons, addressing community feedback about their underperformance. The specific damage increases are detailed below:
- Auto Bolt Rifle: +20%
- Bolt Rifle: +10%
- Heavy Bolt Rifle: +15%
- Stalker Bolt Rifle: +10%
- Marksman Bolt Carbine: +10%
- Instigator Bolt Carbine: +10%
- Bolt Sniper Rifle: +12.5%
- Bolt Carbine: +15%
- Occulus Bolt Carbine: +15%
- Heavy Bolter: +5% (This line appears twice in the original text, suggesting a potential typo)
Saber Interactive also announced plans to launch public test servers around early 2025 to gather feedback on future balance changes and prevent similar controversies in the future. The team will continue monitoring player feedback after Patch 4.1 to ensure the highest difficulty remains appropriately challenging.
