Freedom Wars Remastered: A Deep Dive into Weapon Types
Freedom Wars Remastered offers players the tactical flexibility to equip two weapons of their choice before embarking on any Operation. With six distinct weapon types available, players can craft diverse builds to suit their preferred playstyle. The game features three gun types and three melee types, each highly customizable. Let's explore the unique characteristics of each:
Weapon Types in Freedom Wars Remastered
Players acquire new weapons through Operations or purchases from Zakka in The Warren. While Comrades' weapons are predetermined, players have complete control over their own and their Accessory's weaponry. Switching weapons frequently incurs no penalties.
Weapon Type | Traits |
---|---|
Light Melee | Quick attacks, ideal for swift playstyles targeting single enemies. Can sever Abductor limbs without a Flare Knife. |
Heavy Melee | Wide-ranging attacks delivering substantial damage. Well-placed attacks can hit multiple Abductor limbs for amplified damage. Charged attacks launch the user into the air. Slightly reduces movement speed. |
Polearm | Attacks involve charging through enemies, providing mobility and evasion. Charged attacks launch the polearm for significant damage from a safe distance. |
Assault Weapons | High ammo capacity, perfect as a primary weapon for gun-focused builds. Can be fired while grappled with the Thorne for advantageous angles or safe-distance attacks. |
Portable Artillery | High single-shot damage but low ammo capacity. Explosive area-of-effect (AOE) shots can hit multiple limbs for increased damage. Reduces movement speed. |
Autocannons | High rate of fire, large ammo capacity and magazine size. Individual shots have lower damage, but the high rate of fire compensates. Reduces movement speed. |
Unlike the player character, the Accessory's gun weapons have unlimited ammo. This strategic advantage adds another layer to combat planning.
