Elden Ring: Nightreign will remove an iconic feature of the last game. Why won't players be able to leave messages?

Elden Ring: Nightreign will omit the in-game messaging feature previously seen in FromSoftware titles. Project director Junya Ishizaki clarified this decision, citing the game's approximately forty-minute play sessions as too short for players to effectively utilize the messaging system. The brevity of gameplay sessions makes sending and reading messages impractical.

This departure from FromSoftware's tradition of message-based player interaction is noteworthy, given its historical contribution to player engagement and enjoyment. However, the development team deemed the feature unsuitable for Nightreign's design.

To maintain the integrity of the original Elden Ring, Nightreign features an independent narrative. While retaining the atmospheric richness and complexity of the Elden Ring world, Nightreign offers a distinct adventure with its own challenges and encounters.
