PEAK emerged from a four-week game jam, quickly surpassing sales of developer Landfall's other popular games. Discover how two studios joined forces to create this surprise hit and the story behind its massive success.
PEAK's Breakout Success
Born from "Inspiration"

PEAK is a breakout cooperative game born from the collaboration between Another Crab's Treasure developer Aggro Crab and Content Warning creator Landfall—a partnership sparked by shared admiration and ambition. Working together as "Landcrab," the developers dedicated four intensive weeks at an Airbnb in South Korea.
In a June 25 interview with PC Gamer, Aggro Crab founder Nick Kaman revealed how learning about Content Warning's one-month development timeline left his team astonished. He explained, "We were about to launch Another Crab's Treasure—our most ambitious project spanning over three years that had left us drained. While our game succeeded, Content Warning achieved far greater impact in significantly less time."

The established friendship between Aggro Crab and Landfall made collaboration natural. When Kaman proposed working together, the response was immediately positive. This February, three Aggro Crab developers joined four Landfall members in Korea to develop PEAK. "We set up our computers in a Hongdae Airbnb and committed to an intense month of focused work," Kaman recalled.
Interestingly, the initial concept for PEAK originated a year before development began. Aggro Crab Creative Director Caelan Rashby-Pollock first conceived the idea while relaxing in a Swedish hot tub.
He elaborated, "The original concept was more ambiguous, closer to an open-world survival experience. But we quickly became excited about portraying a group of lost scouts on an island and the darkly comedic situations that could unfold."

During their Korea development period, PEAK dominated the team's focus. "Virtually every moment was spent either working on PEAK or discussing the game over meals," Kaman noted. While admitting it was among their most demanding projects, he emphasized it was also their most enjoyable experience.
Despite PEAK's rapid popularity, the developers clarified in their FAQ that expansion plans aren't currently in development. They're prioritizing bug fixes and ongoing support, with both studios now concentrating on their separate upcoming projects.
1 Million Copies Sold in First 6 Days
PEAK achieved a remarkable milestone just six days after launch. Developer Aggro Crab announced via Twitter on June 22 that PEAK had outsold their previous hit, Another Crab's Treasure.
The post humorously stated, "why did this stupid jam game sell more copies than another crabs treasure im gonna crash out." Currently ranked as Steam's second top-selling game, PEAK has earned "Very Positive" reviews across the platform.

Reviewers consistently praise PEAK as one of this year's standout cooperative games, highlighting its memorable comedic moments. According to SteamDB, the game has achieved an all-time peak of 102,799 concurrent players.
Here at Game8, we awarded PEAK a score of 76/100, recognizing its polished mechanics, inventive cooperative design, and challenging environments. While occasional technical issues and server problems exist, the game compensates with undeniable charm, engaging gameplay, and exceptional value.
